About

KPUD is bringing fast, fiber internet to Kitsap County!

Who We Are
Kitsap Public Utility District (KPUD) provides an open-access, fiber optic network throughout Kitsap County, which delivers fiber internet to homes and businesses. Instead of being a typical retail internet service provider (ISP), KPUD teams up with approved ISPs that use the KPUD network to offer you fast and reliable internet service. The network is open access, meaning that once you are connected, you get to pick from multiple service providers that operate on the KPUD network. If you would like to know more about drinking water and wastewater services provided by KPUD, please visit our main website at www.kpud.org

Where is KPUD Fiber?
Our community network is continually expanding as we build out to reach new areas of our community. To see if the KPUD network is near you, explore our map which is updated as we expand. If you would like to get a quote for extending the PUD infrastructure to your home or business, return to the Home tab and enter your address to review the cost estimator map and submit a quote request to our team of network engineers.

Fiber Path & Installation Process
Fiber can be installed aerially or underground. When installing fiber to the home, KPUD typically follows the same path as the electric utility provider and existing utility easements. When electricity is aerial, KPUD attaches fiber lines to power poles, and when underground KPUD uses conduit installations. The fiber path to the home is created from KPUD’s nearest connection point on the main fiber line. At the home, KPUD technicians install equipment that attaches to the exterior of the home and feeds through to the interior to connect an in-home power source. An interior outlet is required to be within 10 feet of the exterior housing unit.

Payment: Connection Fee & Construction Costs
To connect to KPUD fiber, the legal property owner must agree to our Residential Broadband Contract, even if a renter initiates the request. KPUD accepts credit card payments up to $5,000 online or in person, as well as cash, check, or money order at the office. Homeowners may pay connection costs directly or choose long-term financing through a Non-Contiguous Local Utility District (NCLUD), which allows KPUD to begin construction with no upfront cost. NCLUD financing is a 20-year assessment at approximately 6–8% interest, placed as a lien on the property and billed by the Kitsap County Treasurer, with no penalty for early payoff. To start the financing process, email ourfiber@kpud.org. To check your address or request an estimate, or sign up, please search your address on the homepage of this website.

Internet Services
Customers who connect to KPUD Fiber can choose from 100 Mbps or 2.5 Gig upload/download speeds. Some ISPs provide additional options such as phone service. Monthly service fees are paid directly to your chosen service provider. Visit the Explore our Internet Service Providers tab to learn more about the ISPs and services available on the KPUD Network.
